A special program for the sixteenth anniversary of the end of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka.

 

The Governing Board of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation organized a special program at the office premises on May 19, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM to commemorate the sixteenth anniversary of the end of the armed conflict in Sri Lanka. During the event, a statement prepared and presented by the Governing Board of the Office was released to the public in all three languages. Concurrently with this program, a pledge for a healthy society and a prosperous world was made, and lamps of peace were lit. District and Divisional Secretariat officials across the island, as well as members of co-existence societies, joined the main program online. Commencing the program, the Chairman of the institution, Senior Lecturer Wijith Rohan, provided an in-depth analysis of a prosperous society and a healthy world. Following the lighting of lamps and the pledge, Buddhist, Hindu, Catholic, and Islamic religious leaders shared their thoughts and offered their blessings for a healthy society. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of National Integration of the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Munir Mulaffer, Additional Secretary (National Integration) Mr. K. Mahesan, Additional Secretary (Administration) Mrs. Samankumari, the Chairman of the Office on Missing Persons, members of the Governing Board of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, representatives from the Office for Reparations, the Office on Missing Persons, the National Integration Division and Audit Division of the Ministry of Justice, officials from the Department of Official Languages, as well as representatives from partner organizations, and a large number of other participants. Assistant Director of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, Mr. H.S. Lakmal, thanked the attendees, after which the program concluded.
