The Office for National Unity and Reconciliation held the “Dharma-Chintha Dialogue for a Healthy Society” program today at the office premises to mark the upcoming Vesak Poya. This marked another beginning of the We Sri Lankans program, which was created by this office, to build dialogues for a healthy society and thereby ensure sustainable peace. After the Assistant Director of the Arts, Culture and Media Division of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, H. S. Lakmal, welcomed the guests, Mr. Vijith Rohan, Senior Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya and Chairman of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, explained the purpose of the program through the liberating essence of Buddhism. Venerable Galkande Dhammananda Thero delivered the keynote address, while ONUR Governing Board Member Venerable Omare Punyarathana Thero and Father Sarath Iddamalgoda delivered other sermons. Also, the Chief Incumbent of the Jaffna Naga Viharaya Venerable Migaha Jandure Siriwimala Thero delivered a sermon in Tamil via online mode. In addition, a group of respected monks and clergy actively contributed to this event, and Mr. Munir Mulaf, Deputy Minister of National Integration in the Ministry of Justice, presented his thoughts and explained how an approach can be taken to create a good society through the importance of creating a healthy mind in governance. The program marked an enjoyable end with everyone bearing in mind the goal of building a free, peaceful and independent nation through song instruction. It is also special that arrangements have been made to broadcast the program live online. The program was attended by a large number of people, including the Additional Secretary of the National Integration Division of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the Acting Director General of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, Mr. K. Mahesan, Director Mrs. Shanika Weerasuriya, Directors of the Office for Missing Persons, Directors of the Office for Compensation, Directors of the Audit Division, Representatives of the Non-Judicial Officers Training Division and members of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation.
