In relation to the establishment of the Reconciliation Committees at village, regional, District and National Levels to strengthen the reconciliation mechanism at grass root level collaboratively by Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and constitutional Reforms and the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, the event of the appointment of reconciliation committees and the relevant consultative Boards for the Districts of Ampara, Batticaloa and Trincomalee took place on 22nd , 24th and 25th of February at the auditoriums of District Secretariats of the above districts. In line with the event, on the occasion of Navam Poya day on 23rd, the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, Divisional Secretariat, Addalachchenai and the Divisional Reconciliation Association jointly organized a religious sermon and a dansala at Dighavapi Temple.
These events were attended by the main religious leaders of the district representing all religions,the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and constitutional Reforms, Hon.(Dr.) Wijedasa Rajapakshe, Pc, the State Minister Advocate Hon. Anuradha Jayaratne, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and constitutional Reforms, Mr. Nihal Ranasinghe, Chairman of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation Mr. Charith Marambe, Director General from the same Office, Mrs. Thushari Suriya Arachchi-AAL, District Secretaries, all Divisional Secretaries, Regional Politicians, National Integration Officers, Government Officials and representatives from Reconciliation Associations and the general public.
