ABOUT US

ONUR was established by Cabinet Decision dated 8th April, 2015 in respect of Cabinet Memorandum dated 25th March, 2015 submitted by Hon. Prime Minister, the Office for the National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) was established under the authority of His Excellency the President. In terms of Gazette No 1945/41 dated 18th December.2015, affairs pertaining to national reconciliation have been entrusted with the ONUR under the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation. Meanwhile, by the Gazette Extra Ordinary dated 9th August, 2020, the ONUR came within the purview of the Ministry of Justice.

All Sri Lankans co-exist in harmony and unity, as common repositories of our historical heritage which encourages inclusivity through a shared identity whilst diversity is respected and celebrated.

Promote and catalyze a multi-stakeholder effort to create a society that respects fundamental rights, freedom, and rule of law, social obligations, mutual respect, non-discrimination, equity and diversity.

WELCOME TO ONUR

The Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (ONUR) is an entity under the Ministry of Justice with the primary goal of promoting harmony and unity among people in Sri Lanka while celebrating diversity. We are committed to creating a society where every person respects the fundamental rights, freedom, and equality of all communities. ONUR is established, under the authority of the President of Sri Lanka, in terms of the Cabinet Decision dated 8th April 2015 in terms of the Gazette No. 1945/41 dated 18 th December 2015, affairs pertaining to national reconciliation have been entrusted with the ONUR, under the Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation. By Gazette Extraordinary dated 9 th August 2020, ONUR was placed within the purview of the Ministry of Justice.
