Independence Day Celebration in a Renaissance Era – 2025

Freedom becomes as an essential factor for the human being who is born with humanity, in order to develop the said humanity as a greater humanity.  People engage in a persistent struggle throughout the human chronicle to win the independence.  It can also be observed that the efforts taken by certain powerful peoples in the human society suppressing and enslaving others for their unlimited freedom are highlighted in various forms.  These realities we are experiencing throughout the Sri Lankan social history.

Due to internal circumstances developed in the country’s society where commemorated throughout 76 years the happiness of freeing from the direct effects of aggression on Sri Lankan Society, the freedom we acquired was undermined from time to time which corroborates by the riots and the terrible war raged within past 30 years.   These complexity circumstances recall us that we, as a nation had not been freed yet from the backward human behaviors that violate the human freedom.  In this connection, the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation focuses its foremost attentions to intervene for a meaningful freedom appreciating the ethnic diversity in the Sri Lankan society and avoiding the oppressions.  This is the most suitable moment which has been opened before us.

We firmly believe that were are bounded with the responsibility of achieving a society full of human compassion and, create equal freedom for all.  Therefore, in concurrence with the ruling government’s concept of CLEAN SRI LANKA programme, the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation socialize its concept of ‘WE SRI LANKANS’, enjoying the Sri Lankan Ethnic diversity to build a social environment where human freedom could be made sense supremely meaningful.  We must instill the values needed to accept, appreciate, endure and evaluate the human diversity in Sri Lanka.  Let’s make the 77th Independence Day as an auspicious occasion to make this noble missions a reality.
