MESSAGE FROM THE HON. MINISTER
In the face of numerous challenges stemming from both global and domestic economic issues, our nation stands at a critical juncture that demands a unified response. It is imperative that we come together as a unified force to address these pressing needs. The richness of our multi-ethnic and multi-religious communities, along with the diversity of religious and cultural traditions, should be acknowledged as reservoirs of strength essential for achieving sustainable prosperity within our borders.
The Office for National Unity and Reconciliation assumes a key role in fostering and preserving peace within the country. Formally established through legislation, this office is bestowed with increased responsibilities and enhanced enforceability to effectively execute its mandate. It is mandatory to recognize and appreciate the significance of this institution in steering our nation towards lasting harmony.
It is essential to underscore that every religious faith must demonstrate the principles of unity and commitment, guiding their respective communities towards the attainment of durable peace. Likewise, as citizens of Sri Lanka, we must consistently unite as one nation, ensuring a promising future for our beloved country.
Further as we navigate the complexities of global and domestic challenges, the protection of human rights must not only become a legal obligation but a moral commitment. By supporting inclusivity and fair treatment for every community, we strengthen the social fabric of our nation, fostering an atmosphere conducive to lasting unity and prosperity. Through these efforts, we aim to build a Sri Lanka where the rights of every individual are respected, protected, and celebrated.
In conclusion, I emphasize the critical role of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation in navigating our nation through these challenging times. Through collective efforts and a commitment to unity, we can pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for Sri Lanka.
